In the course of work and worrying over my sick cat, I stumbled upon this old TED talk over how to deal with vulnerability.
“You know how there are people that, like, when they realize that vulnerability and tenderness are important, that they kind of surrender and walk into it? (A) That’s not me and (B) I don’t even hang out with people like that.” Humor is the best conduit, ever.
I’m not gonna knock empathy though. I kinda dig what she also said: “The two most powerful words when we’re in struggle: me too.”
Now I’mma have myself a couple of beers and a banana nut muffin. Or fresh milk and raisin-loaf slathered with peanut butter.
